About Us

The Price Foundation Inc was established in February 1955. Mr. Fred Price, a State Assemblyman for the 42nd District from 1942 to 1950, was the initial force behind its formation. Twenty-five citizens of outstanding character and ability began the Foundation to make grants, loans, and endowments to, or for the use of, any individual or organization operated exclusively for educational, scientific, literary or religious purposes.

The Foundation was originally funded by an anonymous gift of $102,000 followed shortly thereafter by a second anonymous gift of $85,000. Following the death of Mr. Price in 1956, his widow, Clara Price, assumed his role. She donated a gift to the Foundation of $106,000 in 1961. Since then the Foundation’s assets have increased to over one million dollars through prudent investing and planning by its Trustees. In the past 25 years, the Price Foundation has provided over $1,950,000 in student loans and has given grants totaling over $1,000,000.
